SBS Bardiya has signed the project argument in 2019 with USAID PANI Project entitled “Sustainable economic growth throws freshwater biodiversity conservation in Lower Karnali River”. The project goal is to enhance sustainable economic growth throws freshwater biodiversity conservation in Karnali River, especially in Lower Karnali watershed. Project activities is focused on reducing threats to freshwater biodiversity especially in Lower Karnali River watershed, enhance sustainable capture fisheries, the prevalence of destructive fishing methods, and enhance sustainable economic growth through fishing and river based environment friendly enterprises. The project has targeted marginalized, poor communities, fisher community, and focus on the sustainability of capture fisheries, including the prevalence of destructive fishing methods. This project works is included working with rural municipalities in the respective watersheds.

Objectives of project

  • 1. To reduce threats to freshwater biodiversity in the Lower Karnali River basin.
  • 2. To enhance sustainable capture fisheries and prevalence of destructive fishing methods
  • 3. To enhance sustainable economic growth through fishing and river based environment friendly enterprises.
